A " WINTER JOURNEY " FOR THE 21ST CENTURY.
"Winterreise" is the sixth co-production of Oliver Augst & Marcel Daemgen with the Cologne Deutschlandfunk. For almost 20 years they have been viewing German songs with innovative eyes and ears. On all their records, they use musical means to knock something free that was already there, but was hardly perceptible until now, and is only able to emerge in today's contexts. Compared to the productions "An den deutschen Mond", "Marx", "Jugend", "Arbeit Fassbinder Raben" and "Dein Lied", the "Winterreise" seems more radical than anything before - because this production reaches much deeper than just into the political, ideological! This is also claimed by other composers - Reiner Bredemeyer, Mike Svoboda, Hans Zender - who have made this their own. The decisive difference lies in the fact that Augst & Daemgen's electroacoustic counterpoint is not merely musical, but above all opens up completely new horizons in terms of content. The time will come, the American philosopher Timothy Morton said a few years ago, where we must ask ourselves the question with every work: What does it say about the environment?
